Upcoming Changes to COVID-19 Protocol on Face Coverings

Update: COVID-19 Mitigation Protocols

The CDC issued new masking guidance across the country on Friday. Today the COVID-19 transmission level in Pima County remains high, although levels are waning in the rest of the state, and I am hopeful we will see the same in southern Arizona. Considering the high transmission levels, we are keeping our face covering protocols in place across campus. When we return to campus after Spring Break on March 14, we will determine whether to make changes to our protocols.

Colleges prepare for unknowns with omicron variant

Dec. 3, 2021

College officials were already bracing for a potential rise in coronavirus cases when students returned to campus after Thanksgiving break. Then the world learned of the omicron variant, with its troubling mutations and a host of unknowns. "I think we've got to wait and see," said University of Arizona President Robert C. Robbins. "We're thinking strategically about how to address all these very daunting issues over the next semester. We take it sort of semester at a time, but frankly, we take it a day at a time."
