The Arizona Board of Regents has appointed Suresh Garimella as the 23rd president of the University of Arizona. The unanimous board vote follows a comprehensive national search fueled by the work of the U of A Presidential Search Advisory Committee and informed by community feedback.

As president of the University of Vermont, Garimella more than doubled the university's research enterprise and strengthened state and community relationships. A professor of mechanical engineering and a highly cited researcher, he also continued to focus on teaching and mentoring students.

The ABOR meeting is open to the public and available via livestream. A recording of the meeting will also be posted on the board’s YouTube channel in the coming days.
